KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City, Missouri, man has been charged in the death of a man killed in a car accident earlier this week, prosecutors said on Friday.

Nathaniel K. Williams, 29, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and driving with a revoked license in connection to the Thursday morning death of Jason T. Nelson near 25th and Walrond.

According to court documents, Williams was behind the wheel when his vehicle struck a wooden street light pole around 2:00 a.m. on Thursday. The defendant told police he had three cups of vodka within an hour before the wreck. A preliminary report on his blood-alcohol level showed it was above the legal limit.

Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000 or 10 percent.
