KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police have identified a man killed in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening as 42-year-old Christopher T. Zumalt of Holden, Mo.

Police are investigating what caused the accident. Police say Zumalt, riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, crashed at the intersection of Gardner and Chouteau streets around 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

“He was traveling eastbound on Gardner, and it comes to a T-intersection, and he apparently just kept going straight instead of turning with the roadway,” said Sergeant Bill Mahoney, accident investigator.

Zumalt struck a set of train tracks in the accident. Investigators said he died from serious head injuries at the scene.

They do not know at this time if alcohol or speed played a factor.

Police said Zumalt was wearing a helmet.
