KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Police hope pictures of victims like Diana Bronson and her daughter Anna hammer home the message not to drink and drive during their “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
The Bronsons were killed July 4th of last year when a driver with a blood alcohol leve of .185 slammed into their vehicle on I-435 and 63rd. To remember the victims of drunk driving like the Bronsons, Kansas City Missouri Police at drunk driving checkpoints now through Labor Day are showing pictures of victims of drunk drivers as motorists enter and the dates they were killed as motorists exit.
“When people come through our checkpoints and ask us why we are doing the checkpoint, we’re going to tell them that’s why we are doing the checkpoint and we’re going to keep doing checkpoints until we have a checkpoint where we don’t arrest drunk drivers,” said Major Rich Lockhart of the KCPD.
The KCPD joins over 240 agencies throughout Missouri manning checkpoints and looking for impaired drivers.
