KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Eighty-eight people from Kansas City Power & Light will help out power companies in Sioux Falls, S.D., after an ice storm Tuesday evening that has left thousands without power.
“KCP&L takes great pride in being asked by Xcel to assist with restoration following this storm,” said Duane Anstaett, Vice President of Delivery at KCP&L.
Crews will stay up to one week, the company said.
The KCP&L team consists of linemen and several support personnel, including safety employees, managers, supervisors and mechanics from throughout KCP&L’s service territory, they said.
“Being a Midwest utility we understand the unpredictability of the weather in this region and are prepared for these conditions,” Anstaett said.
The group left from Kansas City around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
