KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Power & Light crews were still working to restore power Saturday night for thousands of customers. As of 9 p.m., more than 6,000 customers were still without power.
“We are working as fast as we can,” said KCP&L spokesman Chuck Caisley. “In an outage like this, which is the biggest outage we have had in 13 years of a major storm that came in and sat on the metropolitan, it is very difficult.”
Caisley said at the peak of the storm’s aftermath around 110,000 people were without power. He said there were 1,000 employees in the field Saturday working to restore power. He said the company had 400 staff members drive in from Kansas, Iowa and St. Louis to help speed up the process. Caisley said by the Monday morning work commute everybody should have power again.
