LAWRENCE, Kan. — Jayhawk fans are recuperating on Monday night’s loss and reflecting on an amazing season and improbably trip to the national title game. Along one Lawrence Lane, the memories are a bit painful.

KU fans live all over the country and across Lawrence, but on one street in particular, Monday night’s loss is leaving some a little lost.

Street signs which read Kentucky are now missing. If you drive up and down Kentucky in Lawrence, it’s hard to tell where you are.

“You can’t really tell we live on this street anymore,” said Nick Fuston, KU student.

Neighbors say it was pretty crazy after KU’s loss to Kentucky.

“It was pretty crazy especially down at 14th and Kentucky the traffic was stopped and people were climbing the street pole and trying to tear down the Kentucky sign,” said neighbor Melodie Ayres. “Everyone was so mad at Kentucky.”

Ayres says she found one of the signs nearby.

“I went out there this morning and I found a Kentucky and 16th Street sign just laying in the backyard so I’ll have to investigate and see where that came from i had no part in it,” she said.

One Kentucky sign is still missing. Fans say they’re ready to put the loss behind them and welcome back the team.

The Kansas Jayhawks are expected to arrive at Allen Field House on Tuesday night around 7:30.
