LAWRENCE, Kan. — The victim of a Sunday morning shooting remains in the hospital as of Tuesday.

Lee Simmons Jr., 32, was shot attempting to stop a fight outside a Lawrence bar.

Police were called to Playerz Sports Bar around 2 a.m. Sunday and found Simmons on the ground near the front door of the bar with a gunshot wound.

He was immediately taken to a Kansas City hospital, where he remains.
