LEAWOOD, Kan. — A luxury home in the Hallbrook neighborhood of Leawood could have been yours for less than a million bucks.

It sold at auction Friday afternoon for $957,000.

Back in 2008, the home was listed at $2 million.

The sellers said they were tired of waiting for the market to turn around so they opted to put the home up for auction.

“On the larger homes, it’s taking longer for those to sell in the market today and people just get to a point that they’re tired of waiting,” said Jeff Cates, who oversaw the auction.

The 7,000 square foot home has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and five fireplaces. It also has walnut wood floors, a private library and a custom-designed kitchen with a butler’s pantry.
