LEAWOOD, Kan. — If your New Year’s resolution is to clean out your closet, you’re in luck. A local shop is accepting donations, and all proceeds help a good cause.

Top Drawer is a resale shop full of clothing, accessories, jewelry, and home decor. Everything in the store has been donated, and those donations go to help a valued service in the community.

100 percent of the store’s proceeds go to Kansas City Hospice. The store keeps what it calls “cream of the crop” donations. Everything that doesn’t meet its strict standards is passed to other local worthy charities.

Some of the donations come from local businesses, so that means there’s some brand new merchandise on the shelves. Another great aspect of the store? All employees are volunteers.

They’ve seen firsthand what Kansas City Hospice does for the community and want to give back.

“I think what surprises me most is how many lives Kansas City Hospice has touched in our community,” volunteer Jennifer Kanan said. “And how once people have been visited by hospice volunteers, they want to donate to our store because they feel it stays in Kansas City. We do a very good job of servicing our community. And this is just a small part of what our group does for the community.”
