LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Convicted felon O.J. Simpson will be back in court this week.
On Monday, he will be in a Las Vegas court room seeking his freedom said in what lawyers often call a “Hail Mary motion.”
He will try to convince a Nevada judge that his legal representation was bad in his 2008 trial. And that’s why he was convicted for armed robbery and kidnapping. Simpson will argue that his conviction should be reversed and a new trial ordered.
This is for a bizarre hotel room robbery in 2008. Simpson said he just wanted to take back personal memorabilia that he claimed was stolen from him.
Simpson, 65, has spent the last four years in jail and must serve at least nine of his maximum 33-year sentence before he’s even eligible for parole.
The former Heisman Trophy winner is expected to testify sometime this week. The public may be surprised at his appearance after serving prison time.
“He’s slow, ” close friend Jim Barnett told the Los Angeles Times. Barnett has visited the former football star several times while he has been incarcerated.
“Last time I saw him, he had gotten quite heavy,” he said.
Simpson claims his attorney in 2008 never told him about a plea bargain that was offered by prosecutors.
