KANSAS CITY, Mo. — “Linsanity” is still in full effect, but it took a small detour Thursday night as the New York Knicks fell to the Miami Heat, 102-88.
Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin turned in his worst performance of the Linsanity-era against the Heat. He shot 1-11 from the field and finished with 8 points, 3 assists, and 8 turnovers. Over New York’s previous 11 games, Lin had averaged nearly 25 points and 9 assists per game.
In that span, the Knicks won 9 out of 11 games and went from 8-15 to 17-17. Jeremy Lin’s emergence has taken the sports world by storm. In addition to reviving a struggling Knicks franchise, Lin has come out of nowhere to give the NBA a huge shot in the arm.
The Knicks record currently sits at 17-18 after being humbled by LeBron James and the Heat, who now share an NBA best record of 27-7. Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James each turned in 20-point performances against the Knicks on Thursday night.
The Knicks own an impressive 9-3 record when Lin plays significant minutes or starts at point guard. Despite the loss, Linsanity is still in full effect.
