KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Lee’s Summit woman who works as an attorney was arrested Thursday in Jackson County for the 2010 murder of her father and his girlfriend in Camden County, Missouri.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve been working with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office in investigating Susan Van Note, 44, who is an attorney at Van Note Law Offices.

After many hours of surveillance, deputies from Jackson County arrested her without incident, after a grand jury indicted her for first degree murder and forgery.

Police believe she killed her father, William B. Van Note, 67, and Sharon Dickson, 59, his longtime girlfriend in Sunrise Beach, Mo. in 2010. They were shot and stabbed.

Van Note is expected to be released into the custody of Camden County Detectives for extradition.

Two other people were arrested in connection with the crime. The Johnson County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office and Shawnee Police Department also assisted Camden County.  Desre and Stacey Dory of Shawnee, Kan. were arrested and face Second Degree Murder and Forgery charges. Authorities would not say how the Dorys and Susan Van Note know each other.
