Can Dallas dancers dance?  That was the question as Independence, Missouri native Jesika Cole took the stage at Fox’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance‘ try outs.

“She works hard,” said Margaret Cummings, Jesika’s former dance coach at William Chrisman High School.  “She expects the best, stays positive and achieves at high levels.  I’m excited for her.  I know this is a goal she had, to make it to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and here she is.”

Cummings still remembers the first time she met Jesika.

“I had heard about Jesika and the girls were very excited for her to try out, but she was playing softball,” said Cummings.  “So, it took a little encouragement for her to understand that we could work that conflict out if there was one.  I recall when she came to tryout, she came from softball practice.  She learned the routine in a matter of minutes and I knew right then we were going to be fine.”

Former Softball Coach Mike Estle said he’s elated to see Jesika go from the Chrisman dance floor to the national stage.

“I’m proud of her,” he said.  “I never had any doubt of her success or her ability to succeed.  Anything this kid sets her mind to, she’s capable of doing it.”

While neither coach typically tunes in to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ on a regular basis, they said that’s all changing this season, as their eyes will be glued to the TV set and their fingers to his phone so they can be sure to vote for her as often as possible.
