KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Irish Fest was in full swing on Sunday, rounding out a weekend of music, dancing and Irish culture near Crown Center. In all, 30 bands performed on seven stages.

There were also dozens of venders with Irish scarves, mittens and t-shirts for sale.

Forty million Americans claim Irish heritage.  Kansas City’s festival does a lot to promote tourism with the green island.

Representatives from Ireland were also on hand talking about the importance of strong business relationships between the US and Ireland.

“We are one of the best countries in the world in which to do business. And that’s not me, that is Forbes Magazine that says that. Irish companies have invested hugely in America and are responsible for thousands of jobs here, so it’s a two way relationship that we are very proud of and we hope to build on and promote business more though festivals like this and throughout the country,” said Nick Michaels of the Irish Vice Consul.

The Elders were set to take the stage at 9 p.m. on Sunday.
