KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Would you move to downtown Gladstone if you had the opportunity to live in a luxury apartment complex? The city is hoping many will do just that as it breaks ground on brand new apartments Monday morning.

Developers say they’re confident when it’s built it will draw renters from inside and outside of the  Gladstone area–from across the Northland and even downtown Kansas City.

‘The Heights’ will include more than 220 luxury apartments as well as 10,000 square feet of retail and commercial space making it the premier residential project in the Kansas City North metropolitan area according to the city.

It says the project is key to a massive downtown development effort that’s been in the works for years. Part of that growth includes Linden Square at the corner of NE 70th and Cherry Street. It opened in June and features an outdoor pavilion, ice skating rink, office space and more. The city says downtown Gladstone changing landscape shows a good sign of positive economic growth.

Developers estimate the first year the apartment complex is full it will contribute $5 Million dollars to the local economy in that first year alone.

Monday’s groundbreaking starts at 10:30 in the morning at 525 NE 70th Street in Gladstone.
