OLATHE, Kan. — After a nurse who worked at Providence Medical Center was charged Oct. 15, in Wyandotte County with sexual battery on a patient, authorities in Johnson County also began taking a closer look at suspect Dennis Clark, 47.
Clark worked at Menorah Medical Center, 5721 W 119th St, Overland Park, from the year 2010 until 2012. During that time, Overland Park Police say he was the suspect of two investigations, but no charges were ever filed.
This month, the Wyandotte County Prosecutor charged Clark with sexual battery on three people. The assaults allegedly occurred at Providence Medical Center from December 2013 through May 2014; the most recent alleged victim is a 22-year-old woman.
Court documents say the victims were in the post-anesthesia care unit, where Clark worked, and were “incapable of giving consent because of the effect of any drug or other substance.”
Kansas City, Kan., authorities say one additional person has come forward since FOX 4’s first report on Clark last week.
With the latest allegations, Overland Park Police say they have now reopened their two cases from 2010 and 2011.
FOX 4’s Shannon O’Brien went to Clark’s home in Gardner, Kan., to ask him for his side of the story. He declined to talk to her and referred her to his attorney, who had not responded Thursday afternoon.
Overland Park Police and Stephen Howe, Johnson County District Attorney, said they did not have further comment at this time.
Clark was fired from Providence Medical Center. At the time he was hired at both Providence and Menorah, both hospitals say he passed background checks.
Clark posted a $10,000 bond on Tuesday and is scheduled to appear in front of a Wyandotte County judge on December 30.
