KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A local man, who is accused of killing a two-year-old boy, made his first appearance in court on Monday. The family of the child is in mourning.

Police say Mirsad Hamidovic, 23, jumped on top of the little boy crushing him. They say Hamidovic, who is the boyfriend of the child’s mother, killed the child while she was at work. The abuse happened at an apartment near 17th and Washington.

Hamidovic admitted to officers to jumping in the air and landing on the toddler’s chest twice, possibly knocking his head into a window sill. He also admitted to violently shaking the toddler.

As of Monday around noon, Hamidovic is charged with two counts of child abuse and two counts of domestic assault in the first degree.

Additional charges could be filed, following the death of the child on Sunday morning.

Hamidovic is being held on a $500,000 bond, cash only, and is expected to be back in court on Wednesday, January 28.
