GRANDVIEW, Mo. — Neighbors are outraged and on edge after police say a man kicked in an older woman’s front door and raped her on Tuesday. Investigators say the home invasion and rape happened just a few blocks away from the Grandview Police Department.
According to court papers, early on Tuesday morning a 67-year-old woman first saw a figure outside the window of her home at her apartment complex.
Moments later she says the attacker, who police identified as 34-year-old Peter Hudson, kicked in her door, tied her up and raped her.
“When this happened, we were all just really, really shocked and we’re praying for the victim,” a neighbor said. The neighbor asked FOX 4 to conceal her identity.
The victim also told police Hudson rummaged through her belongings and stole her car. She also says Hudson made her fear for her life saying, “he would come back and kill her.” Cops arrested Hudson at a nearby Waffle House after they say he failed to pay his bill.
He’s been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree burglary and second-degree robbery.
“There’s so many emotions and feelings: depressed and angry. I haven’t been able to and I don’t think nobody else is either, not a single woman living in this complex, has slept very well since this happened,” the neighbor said.
Records show Hudson served time in prison for robbery and was released last September. We’ve also learned that the rape suspect lived in an apartment behind the woman he’s now charged with attacking.
When FOX 4 stopped by Hudson’s apartment Friday afternoon, several of his relatives were moving furniture out of his apartment, but no one wanted to talk about the accusations against him.
Several of the victim’s neighbors said they’re now moving as a result of the attack. Hudson is in jail, prosecutors requested his bond be set at $150,000.
