KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man has been charged with the murder of Denise Streeter, whose body was found in Platte Purchase Park on Nov. 29. Gustavo M. Ortiz, 37, faces second degree murder charges.
According to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, a witness told police that Ortiz picked Streeter up from a Kansas City, Kan., casino and took her to his residence in the 3200 block of Brooklyn. The witness said Ortiz and Street fought and he knocked her to the floor and choked her to death. According to the prosecutor’s office, Ortiz then “loaded her body and directed someone to driver her body to Platte Purchase Park.”
The Jackson County Medical Examiner confirmed Streeter’s body showed signs of choking.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000.
