KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A 32-year-old man was charged Thursday with eluding a police officer after police arrested him following a high-speed chase on Wednesday.
Rodney L. Houston faces one felony count of eluding a police officer. Other charges are pending.
The pursuit began in Kansas City, Missouri, and continued across the state line into Kansas City, Kansas, coming to an end when the SUV crashed in the 5100 block of Georgia Avenue. Just before the chase ended, the SUV hit a car that was turning into a driveway. Two people were inside the vehicle that was hit. One of them suffered unknown injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
Police said after crashing, the suspect jumped out of his SUV and ran to a home where he attempted to hide in some bushes. Police quickly found and arrested him shortly before 5 p.m. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance for injuries he sustained in the car crash.
The chase lasted about 25 minutes and reached speeds of about 90 mph.
Houston is being held on $100,000 bond.
