KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are searching for a person of interest after a man was fatally shot Monday at a Kansas City gas station.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, Thompson said. This is the city’s 14th homicide of 2018.

“It’s just so sad. That’s another life just snuffed out. You can’t do anything, but feel for the person whose life is gone. Just the fact that there’s no respect for human life is just ridiculous,” said Alissa Henderson who lives in the area.

Witnesses told police they saw the man get into a “verbal altercation” with the suspect who then shot the man several times before leaving in an unknown vehicle.

Thompson said before the shooting, the victim was in another altercation with a different man in the same parking lot. That man left before police arrived.

Police are searching for a person of interest in connection with this homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 or the KCPD Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043.
