KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A man who was exiting his vehicle was struck by a semi-truck in a downtown loop of I-70 near 31st street, on Sunday.

According to the Kansas City, Mo. Police Department the wreckage from an accident which involved seven vehicles and a semi-truck was cleared by about 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Officers confirmed the man hit by the semi was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries.

In addition to what police have confirmed, the Kansas City, Mo. Fire Department has also confirmed through tweets on Twitter, that five ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and three people were sent to the hospital. Two of those people are said to be in critical condition and one other person has non-life-threatening injuries.
