BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – At the beginning of February, Jeffrey Treta, 46, was charged with sexual misconduct after his wife allegedly caught him exposing himself to a one-year-old on home surveillance. On Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney’s office announced that a federal grand jury has indicted Treta with six more charges, primarily for sex crimes against children.

Treta is charged with two counts of producing child pornography, two counts of producing child obscenity, one count of possessing child pornography and one count of obstructing justice. The incidents were said to have taken place between January of 2012 and January of 2013.

Treta allegedly used a child victim to produce child pornography on two occasions, January 19, 2013 and January 29, 2013. He then allegedly used two other separate victims to produce child obscenity between May 1, 2012 and January 29, 2013.

FOX 4 talked to a neighbor of Treta’s whose family got caught up in the investigation. Bailey Phillips lives next door and said that Tetra’s wife unearthed some disturbing cell phone pictures on Tetra.

“She had to tell my mom because she found pictures of my sister, like with male private parts like cropped in her face, so my sister was part of that investigation,” Phillips said.

Phillips added that Treta often made her feel uncomfortable and she is satisfied that he is behind bars and being investigated.

“He deserves the worst. It’s disgusting, it’s gross. It’s like why? Why do you have to go after little kids, especially my sister?” Phillips said.

The case was investigated by the Blue Springs Police Department and forwarded to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood. Missouri online court records only listed a court date for his original sexual misconduct charge; he’s not set to appear in court for that until March 13, 2014. Treta is currently in custody at the Jackson County Detention, court records list that he’s being held on a $100,000, cash only bond.
