KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nearly two dozen cats are looking for a new home after their owner surrendered them to the city. Animal control said they received 20 cats from a man who lives in a studio apartment in Kansas City.

“All of them appear relatively healthy,” Tori Fugate with KC Pet Project said. “We’ve seen a lot of hoarding cases here at KC Pet Project, and these guys seem pretty healthy.”

The owner of the cats didn’t want to go on camera but said he’s an animal lover and was simply trying to help some pets in need. He willfully signed the cats over to the animal shelter.

KC Pet Project will decide over the next couple of weeks if they’re ready to be adopted.
