KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The suspect in the murder of a Kansas City, Kansas, woman surrendered to Texas authorities over the weekend, and is now back in a Wyandotte County jail.
Timothy Webb, 44, arrived in Kansas City around 7 p.m. on Sunday. He is charged with killing his 43-year-old girlfriend Sharon Nero last Wednesday.
Police had been looking for Webb since that time, while Nero’s family says it has been extremely tough without her.
“It’s really been hell because one, my mother is gone and with us knowing that this man was out free, it’s been hell. It’s actually been like living in hell,” said Dominique Allen, the victim’s daughter.
About 10 family members of Nero still have raw emotions, shedding tears and hugging each other after seeing the man they believe is responsible for killing their loved one return.
The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s office said Webb turned himself in at 2 a.m. Saturday to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston, Texas.
“I’m glad he turned himself in so we can get a little closure. Lets get this over with so we can get back to our lives,” said Theresa Griswold, the victim’s oldest daughter.
Nero’s family says she was a loving mother of four and considered her the backbone of their family, and if they could talk directly to her alleged killer, they would say Webb’s surrender gives them some peace of mind, but they can never get their loved one back.
“What it was, the conscious got to you and you turned yourself in. Yeah, you did the right thing, but it’s still what you did was wrong,” Allen said.
Webb is being held on $1 million bail. Sources tell FOX 4 that Webb did not say a single word when he surrendered. Webb is suppose to make his first court appearance. The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office said it’ll likely happen Monday afternoon.
