NEW YORK – The Sacramento Kings selected Ben McLemore with the seventh overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. This makes back-to-back Jayhawks in the first round for Sacramento after they selected Thomas Robinson fifth overall in 2012.

Robinson was traded to the Houston Rockets this past season, but McLemore does join former Jayhawk Cole Aldrich with the Kings.

While still a lottery pick, many had projected McLemore to be taken higher, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix had him going second overall to the Orlando Magic in his final mock draft.

But despite the small drop, a pretty well-known NBA player had words of affirmation for McLemore.
