RANDOLPH, Mo. –  A Missouri man has been arrested in connection with a murder in Nebraska 22 years ago. John Oldson, 45, was arrested by Clay County and Valley County Sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday evening.

Oldson was wanted in connection with the death of Catherine Beard in 1989. Beard went missing after leaving a tavern in Ord, Nebraska on May 31, 1989. The woman’s skeletal remains were found on a dirt road outside Ord on April 26, 1992.

A first degree murder charge was filed against Oldson January 19 in Valley County court. An arrest warrant was issued January 23. Oldson is being held in the Clay County, Missouri jail on $1,000,000 bond.

If convicted, Oldson could face the death penalty.
