OLATHE, Kan. — An Olathe man was hospitalized on Thursday night after he was bitten by a copperhead snake.

According to authorities, the man was out walking his dog in the 11600 block of Lewis Drive shortly after 9:00 p.m. when he spotted the snake on a sidewalk. When he bent over to look at it, the snake bit the man on the finger.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to an area hospital with what is described as a very swollen finger. His condition is unknown at this time.

The snake was captured by neighbors.
