OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Police responded to 36 accidents before 2 p.m. on Saturday in Overland Park, four of which had minor injuries. Police said the accidents, caused by the bad weather, mostly happened on I-435 and 69 highways.
The wintry weather didn’t stop Dave Oshel and his family from heading out for the day. He said the drive wasn’t an easy one, though.
“I came out of a circle and I did a loop, 360,” he said. “I was in control all the time but my sister-in-law here was not so sure.”
FOX 4 hit the roads Saturday and spotted cars sliding, getting towed off to the side of the road and drivers struggling to see the lines on the road in front of them.
According to K-DOT, there are 48 plow trucks clearing roads in the metro tonight on the Kansas side. Staff reminds drivers to stay at least 200 feet, or 15 car lengths back from those plows.
