KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A Turner Middle School student was taken into custody after they were found to be in possession of a gun Wednesday. The student is a 13-year-old girl.
Assistant Superintendent of Business and Public Relations Dr. Jason Dandoy said another student alerted school officials. The gun was not loaded at the time and no ammunition was found on the student or in their belongings.
Dandoy said school officials will ensure consequences are issued in accordance with district policy.
Turner Middle School is located at S. 55th Street and Metropolitan Ave., in Kansas City, Kan.
