JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A Missouri man has caught a state record fish — for the third time.
The Missouri Department of Conservation said Nicholas Wray of Harrisonville caught a 5-pound, 6-ounce carpsucker in May on the South Grand River in Cass County using a pole and reel. In 2008 Wray caught a 2-pound, 3-ounce carpsucker, giving him state-record bragging rights. He said he reeled that one in about 100 yards from where he caught his most recent state record fish.
In 2010 Wray caught the state record for a 2-pound, 4-ounce black bullhead on a jug line.
Wray told the Associated Press he fishes about 200 days each year, going out at night after work.
