JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A Buchanan County jury convicted Tony King of killing his 7-year-old son, and then burning their mobile home with the body inside.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the local fire department was called to extinguish King’s trailer in Jan. 2012. The body of the King’s 7-year-old son, Jeremiah Lamm, was found in the debris with most of his body burnt beyond recognition.
An autopsy done later that day revealed that the child died prior to the fire. Jeremiah had been seen at school with many injuries with varying explanations, and had been absent the two days prior to the fire. One of King’s friends saw him the day before the fire, and observed a child lying in the front seat of King’s truck covered completely with a blanket with a hand showing.
The pathologist concluded that Jeremiah probably died as a result of manual strangulation.
“This was an incredibly brutal and senseless murder of a defenseless child,” Koster said. “I’m grateful that our office was able to see that justice was served.”
Sentencing is scheduled for June 13.
