KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City teenager faces charges for a fatal crash where prosecutors say he was high on synthetic marijuana, often known as K-2.
FOX 4 has learned he also faces a wrongful death lawsuit, along with the owners of a tobacco shop that the lawsuit claims sold him the K-2.
The fatal accident happened in October of last year. Prosecutors said Logan Pope, 18, was high on synthetic marijuana when he drove down Highway 92 near Smithville and tried to pass a car illegally.
He crashed head-on into 25-year-old Ashley Miller, who died in the crash.
Ashley’s mother filed the civil lawsuit, accusing Smoke-N-Mirrors tobacco shop of knowingly selling an illegal product over the counter.
