JOPLIN, Mo. — On May 22, 2011 an EF 5 tornado destroyed part of the town of Joplin. Over 1,000 people were hurt and 161 people were killed.
On Tuesday, people taking part in the one year ceremony observed a moment of silence to remember those who lost their lives to the tornado.
