ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A determined mother chased down a man she suspected of abducting her five-year-old daughter Wednesday night.  She succeeded in crashing her car into the suspect’s car, which started a manhunt by police.

According to Albuquerque Police, the child was taken near an apartment complex. A short time later, she was pushed out of a vehicle by the suspect.  The girl was not injured and was later found wandering around the apartment complex.

The child’s mother did not know that her child was safe.  So the mother followed the suspect, causing the suspect to crash his vehicle.  He then fled on foot.

According to television station, KASA, the police had locked down about 20 blocks of southeast Albuquerque along Kathryn Avenue between San Mateo Boulevard SE and San Pedro Drive.

“At this point in time it appears to be a complete stranger abduction,” APD Chief Ray Schultz said during a news conference outside the search perimeter.  “It appears to be no relation that we’ve been able to determine from either the mother or any witnesses.

“It appears this time to be a stranger abduction, so that’s how we’re treating it.
That’s why such a large amount of resources out here tonight,” Schultz said.

Police have identified a person of interest in the case.  Investigators are looking for 31-year old David Jesus Hernandez.   Hernandez is described as in his 20’s wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.
