RIVERSIDE, Mo. — One person is dead following a high-speed chase with officers. The crash happened off of Beverly Lumber near West Platte Road in Riverside.

Police said they spotted the driver, who has not been identified, prior to the crash traveling 103 miles per hour in the NB lanes of I-635. Police attempted to pull the driver over for a routine traffic stop, but officers said the driver continued speeding and a chase ensued. Officers said the driver led them on and off interstates and onto local roads in Riverside.

Police said they tried to stop the driver with road spikes, but he drove around them. Police said they called off the chase at that point. Shortly after, police said the driver crashed into a shed off of Beverly Lumber. When officers arrived at the crash site, the vehicle was on fire.

Police said they do not know why the driver was speeding or if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
