Recently filed court papers reveal a strange new twist in the love triangle murder case. Just one day after the suspect, Shannon O’Roark-Griffin, pleaded not guilty to killing her husband’s mistress, court papers reveal friends and neighbors are worried about the Gladstone murder victim’s mother.
Friends and neighbors filed court papers asking the county to step in and take charge of Irina Puscariu’s estate and guardianship of her elderly mother. The court papers outline why the witnesses think 86-year-old Aneta is being taken advantage of. Aneta is from Romania and doesn’t speak English. The court papers allege that the lawyer who is in charge now is not acting in Aneta’s best interests.
Irina Puscariu’s elderly mother was the sole witness to her daughter’s murder. Aneta was standing just a few feet away when police say O’Roark Griffin walked into the psychiatrist’s Gladstone home and shot her three times. Police say the woman later called her husband Roscoe Griffin to tell him she had killed his lover.
Friends and neighbors are worried about Aneta since attorney Charles Frahm has taken over the estate. In the court documents, one neighbor says he heard the attorney trying to scare Aneta, telling her the home is still a crime scene and she could be in danger. He says after Frahm took over the estate, Aneta spent five days in the same clothes and didn’t bathe. The neighbor is concerned Aneta is not getting any counseling for the trauma she witnessed.
Another neighbor said in the deposition that she is also worried that Frahm is isolating Aneta, not letting her see friends or neighbors. A Romanian translator says Aneta told her she did not want to give power of attorney to Frahm. She says Aneta also told her she is afraid of Frahm and his staff, worried they will steal from her and afraid they would put something in her food or water to harm her.
The court documents suggest this is all about money. Aneta is the sole heir to the $300,000 house and a $750,000 death policy. The neighbors say they believe Frahm is needlessly charging Aneta for legal services she doesn’t need.
Frahm did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday, but Monday evening he told Fox 4 ‘All we’re interested in is preserving the sanctity of the mourning process of the Puscariu family. Other than that we have no comment.’
