SEDALIA, Mo. — You can see American flags when you drive down Main Street in Sedalia, Mo. On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, people made a disturbing discovery outside their homes.
“I took it to the police department because I was shocked,” said Sedalia resident Lisa Flores.
Flores organizes the MLK Day parade. She says she was shocked to find the flier in her front yard.
“I was extremely upset,” Flores said. “It was in a blue bag and looked like a plain newspaper. I didn’t want that trash in my yard.”
The flier had a picture of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a Klansman with a cross and Gen. Robert E. Lee. Sedalia police recovered a dozen fliers. They appear to be printed from a national KKK site.
Several people say even though they were disturbed by the fliers, they won’t allow it to create an issue in their quiet community.
