OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Overland Park Regional Medical Center wants to expand, but the hospital’s neighbors aren’t happy with their plans.
On Monday night, the Overland Park City Council will meet to discuss the expansion plans, which include a new 700,000 square foot building and a three-story parking garage.
According to neighbors of the hospital, the expansion plans would negatively impact their privacy and property values, claiming that the new building will be within 50 feet of their back yards.
Officials with the hospital say that they have already modified their plans to appease homeowners.
Both sides will present their arguments before the council on Monday night. The project needs at least 10 “yes” votes to be approved.
