KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The area around 72nd and Baltimore in Kansas City, Mo., is usually quiet, but neighbors tell me in the last year — something has changed.
There’s an uptick in break-ins — both homes and cars. And neighbors have had enough. They’ve agreed to watch out for each other. Someone even spray painted a message for the crooks in the middle of the street.
It reads, “No more break-ins. We’re watching you.”
Anne Owen said she’s lived in the area for 30 years. She’s recently had her fair share of problems.
“Over the summer we had cars getting broken into,” she said. “Mine on three occasions. On the last occasion I was able to actually see it happening and I chased the fellow down and he got away, but the police ended up catching him with the description I had given. And then of late we’ve just had a lot of businesses being broken into in the Waldo area.”
Anne says she doesn’t know who spray-painted the word of the warning in the street — but she hopes it works.
