KANSAS CITY, Mo. — New bus service begins Monday morning in an under-served part of Kansas City, Kan., helping those who live there get around .
KCK officials will gather at noon on Monday at Emerson Park located at 29th and Emerson to celebrate the opening of the new bus route.
It’s another big step forward for the area, as it will help the aging population have better access to healthcare facilities if they need it. The new route will directly take residents to the University of Kansas Medical Center as it connects Argentine with the Rosedale neighborhood.

The map shows it best, with the route going south from Argentine all the way to Merriam Lane, east to Southwest Boulevard to Rainbow then north past the hospital to 47th Street over to Mission Road and then back again.
The entire route will take about an hour for buses to navigate.
KCK residents wanting to take the bus will want to check out the route times with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority to make sure they aren’t waiting around too long for the next bus.
KCK officials are paying for the route with taxpayer dollars, It will cost more than $250,000 dollars a year to add the route. But they say the new bus service is essential to improving the quality of life for the residents in the Argentine neighborhood, many who don’t own cars and depend on the buses to get them to work, the store or the hospital.
The new route will run Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
