Overland Park, KAN. – The population of Overland Park, Kan., will increase by 140 people with this month’s opening of Meadowlark Terrace, a new residential building at Tallgrass Creek, a continuing care retirement community.
New residents are moving from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Texas, Florida, New York and North Carolina. Tallgrass Creek currently has 330 of residents. They will add economic impact to the greater Kansas City region in the following business areas:
- Restaurants, grocery stores
- Vehicle maintenance, replacement, and registration taxes
- Dry cleaning
- Consumer goods – TVs, clothes, etc.
- Hotel use from out of state families and visitors
- Medical care from outside specialists
- Hospital use
Ninety-one percent of apartment homes at Meadowlark Terrace are already sold out. This 87-unit apartment residence building features 10 new floor plans that vary in size and style, ranging from luxury two-bedroom units to more modest one-bedroom apartments.
Tallgrass Creek considered feedback about the individual apartment homes when designing Meadowlark Terrace. “We asked our architects to find ways to offer more open space designs,” said Director of Sales Deborah Messmer.
The new apartment homes boast airy layouts and beautiful finishes, including granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and full-size, side-by-side washers and dryers, said Messmer.
This expansion follows last year’s opening of a 104-unit Continuing Care neighborhood at Tallgrass Creek. Continuing Care offers assisted living, memory care, long-term nursing care, and short-term rehab. It brings a new Erickson Living Person-Centered Care approach that is said to be unique to the Kansas City market.
Lantz-Boggio is the architect, and Brinkmann Constructors is the general contractor. A total of 20 jobs is being created as a result of this $15M expansion.
