NEW YORK — More than 40 years after a New York man last saw his high school ring, the love token he gave his wife has been found on a Greek island.

Stan Ostapiak graduated from a Manhattan high school in 1962.

At his wedding reception a decade later, his wife’s purse was stolen with the ring inside.

Fast forward to the Greek island of Naxos about a month ago. A Greek young man came across the ring in his late father’s belongings.

The name of the Seward Park High School in New York was engraved inside, leading to the school’s alumni association via the Internet.

The polished ring was delivered by mail to Ostapiak and his wife earlier this month. How it got to Greece is a mystery.
