NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. — North Kansas City Hospital officials don’t want the city to sell the hospital, so they filed an injunction. A motion was filed by the city of North Kansas City and the city council to dismiss the case.
The city of North Kansas City, which built the hospital in 1958 technically owns North Kansas City Hospital. But a Missouri state statute allows the hospital board and administration to run it, and it also does not give the city council the power to sell it.
The chairman of the hospital board says that because it’s now public knowledge that the hospital is for sale, it has hurt the hospital’s ability to hire new doctors.
According to hospital board members, there aren’t any financial reasons or financial troubles that would force a sale.
The hearing at the Clay County courthouse is set for Friday at 9:30 a.m.
