KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Friends of the mother and daughter who were attacked at their Northland house on Tuesday, July 7 by an unknown gunman, received wonderful news in their Facebook feed on Sunday from husband and father, Dan Class.
“How about some good news on this beautiful Sunday afternoon?? Michelle has now been moved out of ICU!!,” Dan Class’ post said.
Michelle Class and her 14-year-old daughter, Reagan Class, were shot at about 8:15 a.m. at their home in the 10300 block of North Virginia Ave. A neighbor found Michelle shot in the stomach in the driveway of her home. Reagan was found inside, also shot. Police say the gunman went into another home in the neighborhood first. When the homeowner confronted him, he said the gunman said, “Don’t test me. You are not who I am looking for.”
Police have not announced any arrests for the shootings of Michelle and Reagan.
In Dan Class’ update to friends, to family and to the supportive community, he says doctors performed a tracheotomy on Reagan because she was not breathing on her own. However, he says Reagan has squeezed his hand and he believes she is improving, despite her critical injuries.
Class says his new mantra is “Every day is one day closer to full recovery.”
He thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers and asked that they continue.
A donation page has been set up for the Class Family through the GoFundMe site. The Class family pastor at Northgate Baptist Church, 800 N.E. Vivion Road, says people are also welcome to bring small items, snacks or cards to the church and they will pass them along to the family.

Police described the suspect as a white man in is in his early 20’s, about 5’7″ tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has dark hair, a scruffy beard and was wearing a gray or dirty white T-shirt and dark pants.
