KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Baseball bats and busted out windows. A dozen Northlanders awoke to shattered glass Wednesday morning. On Tuesday night we highlighted BB gun damage, now we’re talking about baseball bats, which is what was used in a number of other cases of vehicle vandalism.

Car, truck and SUV windows were shattered within a couple of miles of each other. Most were in neighborhoods north of Barry Road between Highway 169 and Interstate 29.

One woman went out to her driveway about 6:15 in the morning to find her windows shattered. She just bought the SUV, it’s so new, she doesn’t have it titled yet. Now the SUV is in the shop getting some expensive repairs.

There is video of the suspects at a home thanks to surveillance cameras. A light-colored SUV pulls up, someone gets out passenger side and takes out the window of the truck parked at the curb. Then he gets back in and the SUV drives off.

The footage isn’t a lot to go on, but police are hopeful someone will recognize the SUV or may have heard someone bragging about what they did overnight. The damages in dollar amounts aren’t official yet, but estimates have the damage at well over $5,000. If you can help solve these crimes, call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
