KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The $137.5 million yacht Steve Jobs commissioned in the final years of his life is caught up in a major pay dispute in Amsterdam. So major, the boat has been impounded by authorities.
The dispute stems over payment to Venus’ designer, Philippe Starck. Attorneys for Starck’s design company told CNN the designer has only received $6 million of the of the $9 million euro commission — or nearly $4 million in U.S. dollars.
Starck’s company wants the rest of the cash before Venus can float.
The 260 foot-long yacht is made entirely out of aluminum, with 40 foot-long floor to ceiling windows lining where passengers stay. And since Jobs was the face of Apple, it seems fitting the mega boat has seven 27-inch iMacs that control the command center.
