WILMINGTON, N.C. – After serving as a member of the U.S. Air Force in Kuwait, a North Carolina woman was shocked when she discovered a rude note on the driver-side window of her car after she parked and went into a grocery store.

Mary Claire Caine said she had finished shopping at a local grocery store and walked to her vehicle, which was parked in a Veterans only parking spot. When she approached her car, she did not expect to see the sassy note which was waiting for her on the window.

Maybe you can’t read the sign you parked in front of. This space is reserved for those who fought for America…not you,” read the note.

Caine said that for just a moment, she thought to herself “Am I a worthy enough veteran to park in this spot?” But soon after got said she got very angry at herself for even coming up with that idea.

Caine, who thinks the note-writer owes her and her fellow female service members an apology, believes that because she is a woman and doesn’t resemble the stereotypical mold for a veteran, the person who wrote the note did not believe she had served as a member of the military.
