SAN FRANCISCO — Last Monday a 13-year-old Girl Scout set up shop selling popular boxes of Girl Scout cookies in front of Green Cross medical marijuana dispensary. According to TV station KPIX, 45 minutes later she needed to call in for reserve boxes.

The scout’s name is Danielle and her mother said that she sold about 117 boxes in two hours. The amount of sales she recorded in front of the dispensary were nearly four times what she sold in front a grocery store on Tuesday. Her mother, Carol Lei, said that she chose the location to exhibit different areas of the city to her daughter.

She also said she felt it was a safe venture due to the fact that multiple security cameras were in the area. The decision also gave her an opportunity to broach the subject of drug use with Danielle.

As for a statement from the Girl Scouts of Northern California, they don’t hold a similar policy that is held in Colorado where its members aren’t allowed to sell in front of liquor stores or marijuana dispensaries.

The dispensary claims on its Facebook page that more scouts will be returning to the sidewalk in front of its shop on Saturday.
