KANSAS CITY, Mo. –The Olathe Northwest High School football team spent their Saturday collecting food and clothing, stacking water and raising money for the victims of the Moore, Okla. tornado.
The items collected are headed to the 19 members of the South Moore High School football team, whose lives were turned upside down following the May 20 tornado.
“Even when I asked, ‘Hey I know this sounds like a crazy question, Can you think of anything in particular? And their exact answer was- pretend you lost everything and then what would you need?'” said Colleen Psihountas, Olathe Northwest Quarterback Club member.
Organizers call this effort “From One Brother to Another.”
“Then it just exploded into something really big, so we have our cheerleaders who are helping. as well because they had several cheerleaders who lost everything as well,” Psihountas said.
Volunteers had hoped to drive their donations down to Moore on Saturday, but because of Friday’s tornado in Oklahoma, they’ve been asked to wait until Sunday.
